Does anyone know if you can update the game without losing your save? I'm new to the site and I'm still learning. If anyone can answer I would be very grateful
Renpy games pretty much always can be updated without losing saves (pc: save files are kept separately from the game so you can just launch new version, android: just use apk to update your game and saves should be fine). The only problem is that renpy is not most update-friendly engine, so saves from old versions tend to break something quite often.
I'm stuck with Jin's route, because I always find myself leaving the village and then when I come back I find it destroyed. yet I think I made the right choices, help!
I LOVE THIS VN SO GODDAMN MUCH!!!!!!! The stories is simply but very pleasant to read, the animations are perfect and the characters + the log book that keeps writing new info about them is pure genius! Every character has it's own different personality and background and each of them is a new flavour to discover! Hope this project will receive more credit and I can't wait for a new update!
Reading Jin's day 10 and something he said to Leia gave me a theory, Leia was talking about Leo and saying "he only cares about 1 thing and she doesn't have it" which prompted Jin to ask if she was still upset because "dad had to force them two" and then Leia cut him off, and on Leos day 9 when he and MC kissed he said it was his first kiss even though he's slept with somebody, which leads me to think that Leia is the one Leo slept with and it wasn't either of their choice and not romantic at all, which leads me to wonder why Gerald forced them to sleep together and why he felt he had to, no matter the answer it seems like a real fucked up situation.
What an absolutely delightful VN project this is, it's easy to tell how much effort and love you two are putting into this, just from the amazing UI and art. I just have to read everybody's routes, because of how fun all the characters are. Gonna be supporting you guys and the MonHun VN of my dreams every release that I can! also- Koku is cutest boy and Runan is best malewife (thank you so much for them).

This error is usually from extracting .rar files. This is the first time this happened. The file you downloaded might have been incomplete, either through an error or stopped manually. I suggest downloading it again, making sure the internet connection is stable and enough file space to complete the download before extracting it.
OMFG it's a monster hunter dating sim I never thought I'd live to see the day my favorite game franchise about hunting sick monsters with equally as sick weapons became a dating sim, and im all here for it. and just like in the game nergigante still looks sooooo cool if not just a little bit more attractive than he already did

btw some backgrounds looks a little..simple?(comparing to the characters)maybe they could be improved or something？

Glad you're enjoying the game! I understand your concern and we are also not native English speakers, so we understand the struggle of some of the Felyne dialogs.
The Felynes have a specific way of talking, and often it is taken directly from the game itself (Meowster is a term they use to refer to someone as Master). It is a bit difficult to work around the way they are talking, but we do plan on polishing the game once the content is finished, which includes polishing the dialog.
As for the backgrounds, the game is still in very early development, so many of the backgrounds are still not final and only used as a temporary background. We thought that adding backgrounds might take longer so we will gradually update some of them as we go. We also think that adding these simple backgrounds better than using online images or black images as it can still convey locations and what our visions for the Village itself.
I encountered a bug that permanently compromises the logbook. The dictionary no longer scrolls, restricting access to only the first four items, and the gallery has disappeared entirely.

Just for refrence, For the scrolling of the dictionary, you might need to move the scrollbar itself if youre on PC. As for the Gallery, the button should be visible on the right when clicking the log book.
That should be intentional. The gallery will not be available until you go through the first day, or meeting Leo. While playing, there will be a hover notification similar to adding details to the dictionary to say "Leo has been added to the Log Book", which means you unlocked the gallery and biography.
Ah... oh, I think I know what happened now. After playing through the game the first time I used the new game option on the main menu, but ultimately moved over to a save file at the first point the story can diverge. Creating a new game would have removed the button, and since I didn't meet Leo before switching to the saved game, I never got the option back. Gonna go check and see...
We will try to push out another update before the end of the year, but we cannot set an exact date due to End Of Year problems (Such as exams, or work). We will try to aim at the end of November or start of December but we just want to set expectation that it may take a while.
Firstly, love the work being put into this game! Each of the characters are pretty well written for the most part so it'll definitely be interesting to see develop further!
Just a silly question, but when it came to the monster selections for characters, how did you come to the consensus of which ones to use? And were there some that you really wanted to make date-able characters but had to end up putting on the cutting room floor?

We chose the roster waaaaay back, I would say around 2020-2021 and was working up in terms of story, referencing, and gameplay for the past 2 years. And since it was brainstormed during pandemic as well, we had to push it back until last year when we had enough time to finally start working on it.
Because of that time frame, and the story already halfway written, adding the monsters from Rise would be a bit hard to fit with the situation we already built up since it was a bit late. In addition to that, we decided to stick with MH World favorites since it is what made MH bigger now, and more would recognize the monsters. (Aside from Koku. That's just my bias...).
There were a few that we were thinking of adding such as the Magnamalo, Barioth, Congalala, even Kut-Ku but that might be something we decide in the future when the game is finished. I really wanted to include Zamtrios but I cannot seem to make it fit right with the vision we have of the village.
You can expect at least 2 endings for each dateable character, with the usual good and bad ending but I cannot say more than that to avoid any spoilers. This is still technically a game so we need to add some sort of gameplay risk in the form of a bad ending (or anything similar), akin to most dating simulators.
The idea isn't complete yet, but so far, the idea is that the hunters guild go out looking for the scrivener, since they've been gone for weeks now. They happen to stumble upon the village and attack, burning houses to the ground, destroying crops, and slaying true wyverians left and right. The main group (protagonist, Leo, Runan, Jin, Koku, Joseph, Ridge, and Elder) attempt to evacuate as many as they can. They then try to flee the village themselves but are stopped by the armada of hunters. Gerald attempts to hold them off, urging the group to go on without him. As the group reluctantly flees, Jin stops momentarily and looks back in horror, seeing Gerald's brutalized body falling down, dead. As more hunters storm the area, the group retreats into the forest.

We will be adding more characters as the story progress, such route specific characters, story relevant characters, and other instances. However, we don't plan on adding any new date-able characters during development. Adding more date-ables at the current stage might be too much for both of us right now since we want to make sure everyone has a fun reading experience!
But that doesn't mean we are not close minded to suggestions/thoughts. We do take into account everyone's comments here to have inspiration and maybe squeeze in a few things if it feels right to the main story.

I had a suggestion that, on the one hand, does have to do with Monster Village and on the other hand, does not.

Anyone else (besides me) think that Bonnie Tyler's "Holding Out For a Hero" fits really well with the premise of Monster Village?

Also, the game (despite being a demo) is excellent. To say I'm hyped for the next update/full release is a severe understatement.
